Lamb County Health Care

Location: Littlefield, Texas

Client: Methodist Hospital System

Project Completion: 1996

Project Size: 6,000 SF

Total Budget: $1,176,500

Designed for a local cardiac group, the professional office building of Lubbock Heart Surgery is located on 6th street, near Quaker Avenue. The client wished to project a modern , stream-lined image on the exterior of the building.  This aesthetic was achieved through the incorporation of dramatic aluminum sun shading devices that wrap two corners of the building.  Masonry details accent the shading device connections and enhance the feature.  The interior of the building features softer finishes with touches of brushed aluminum in the millwork, finish hardware and lighting fixtures to reflect the drama of the shades.

Throughout the project, CHA has worked closely with the client and the selected contractor to determine design solutions that maintained the quality of the design, yet were sensitive to the client’s budget.  Weekly progress meetings with the client and the contractor led to responsible and effective design decisions, and the team,  consisting of client, architect, and contractor,  cultivated the project from schematic design through construction documents.  The results: the client was fully aware of the building design, the contractor was familiar with the project, and the architect received timely and insightful input from both.   The Lubbock Heart Surgery offices were opened to patients in October of 2005.
