Mitchell County Hospital - Phase I - Energy Analysis

Location: Colorado City, Texas

Client: Mitchell County Hospital District

Project Completion: 2013

Total Budget: $80,000

Chapman Harvey Architects was hired to access the many needs of a new hospital facility and develop a master plan to address and prioritize the hospitals future growth. Initially, energy efficiency was stated to be completed after the new construction phases, but after Chapman Harvey learned of the large monthly expenditure on electricity, the efficiency of the hospital became a the highest priority.

By testing and studying options for the hospital that included selective tinting, fritting, LED lights and HVLS fans, careful decisions were made that allowed the hospital to recoup there investment. These design decisions regarding energy efficiency have been so successful that they have set an important precedent moving forward on the other phases of new construction at the hospital.
